HYPNOTHERAPY

Introduction

Hypnosis has emerged from early history to the present day as a powerful and effective technique, readily adapted for use in many areas of medicine and well-being.
Healing in a trance state is one of the oldest medical arts. It enables the patient to access his/her own inner consciousness, and alleviate symptoms of illness in the most appropriate manner for that person. They remain in control, the therapist acts as guide and protector.
Allied with neurolinguistic programming, the two methods may link together to help people deal successfully with a wide range of problems.
Challenges include giving up smoking, relief of stress, bed wetting, spelling difficulties, phobias and there are many more.

Values

Every person has their own individual set of beliefs and values. For hypnosis to really work, these MUST be respected. As one of the great Hypnotherapists, Erickson, said "I've treated many conditions, and I always invent a new treatment in accord with the individual personality. I know that when I take guests out to dinner, I let the guest choose what to eat, because I don't know what they like."

What happens at the first visit?

After the greeting, we work through the parameters - confidentiality being of prime importance. I ask not what the problem is - but what they hope to achieve by seeing me.

As the history is taken, and the client tells only as much as they are comfortable with, so the process of healing starts. Usually, we will work through some NLP (neurolinguistic programming) first, and then the session usually ends with a hypnosis, to give the person time to assimilate the changes that have taken place.

How many sessions?

This depends upon the client's wishes. Some goals can be achieved by one visit (such as phobia cure), others need a few (like stammering). Giving up smoking usually needs two sessions.

Will it help me?

If you want it to! I do not recommend you come because someone else has twisted your arm - but virtually everyone else can gain from more knowledge about themselves, and by learning some simple techniques to practice at home.
