The human spine is a complex structure principally involving 24 individual bones, or vertebrae. Movement of the spine happens at the discs and joints between these bones.
All these moving parts can experience problems - the muscles supporting the spine become tired, pulled, or strained, the ligaments holding the bones together can also be strained and the joints and discs gradually become worn.
During the initial 90 minute consultation and treatment the chiropractor will take a detailed history of the problem/s you have, your general health, accidents, injuries and family history. An examination is also carried out to help determine the cause/s of your problem/s. Unless it is appropriate to refer for further investigation, such as x-rays, a treatment will be given at this appointment. This often involves ‘adjusting’ the joints to improve their function. This in turn helps the body to recover naturally and more quickly than if left without help and decreases the pain, stiffness, inflammation and nerve irritation.
Further treatments are usually necessary to keep recovery on the right track and to re-educate the system. This helps to avoid problems and recurrences in the future. The number and frequency of treatments is tailored to the individual patients needs - if you need it, you get it, if you don’t, you won’t.
Chiropractic is suitable for all ages.
The initial consultation and treatment costs £50.00. Follow up treatments cost £25.00
